Minister Of PUPR Targets Repair Of Ngaglik Lamongan Bridge To Complete D-10 Lebaran

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono is targeting the repair of the Ngaglik Bridge in Lamongan Regency, East Java, to be completed on D-10 Eid 2022.

“The main repair activities in the form of installing 5 girders have been completed. It's just a matter of installing the plate or the work on the top," said Minister Basuki, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 8.

He hopes that the bridge can be opened and ready for vehicles to pass on April 22, 2022. H-11 will also be opened.

"Earlier I also passed a new road with concrete/rigid pavement, on the section between Lamongan and Gresik. That's a total of 16 km that will be handled. God willing," he said.

The Minister of PUPR said that the damage that occurred to the Ngaglik Bridge was a broken girder due to being passed by a trailer truck loaded with excess capacity (Over Dimension and Overload).

Currently, repairs are being carried out to replace the girder with a load-bearing strength of up to 50 tons in accordance with the latest Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

With the replacement of the bridge girder based on the new SNI, Minister Basuki said that it did not mean that the bridge was allowed to be traversed by vehicles with excess loads (ODOL). The five girders used are from Waskita Precast.

Meanwhile, Director General of Highways Hedy Rahadian said the Ngaglik Bridge before the damage occurred was still in good condition with routine maintenance carried out.

"However, the load of passing vehicles often exceeds the standard of the bridge's capability when it was first built with a weight limit of 35-40 tons and now with this improvement we install it with a standard weight limit of up to 50 tons," said Hedy.

The Ngaglik Bridge is located on Jalan Widang/Bedahan, Attorney General Suprapto, Tumenggungbaru, Tumenggungan and Lamongan. The bridge with a span of 25.8 meters and a width of 18 meters was built in 1993.

Ahead of the 2022 Eid homecoming, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono directly inspected the readiness of toll roads and national roads on the island of Java.

"I started traveling today to see the readiness of national non-toll roads and toll roads for Lebaran 2022 homecoming. Because, as stated by the President, the enthusiasm for going home this year will be high after 2 years of not being able to go home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is estimated that around 79 until 85 million people will go home to spread to various regions, especially to Central Java and East Java. It is estimated that 47 percent of homecomers will go by land, "he said.
