SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi City Police has monitored the distribution of cooking oil carried out by distributors to the market, especially traditional markets in the City and District of Sukabumi, West Java.

"This monitoring is to ensure the availability of bulk cooking oil on the market during Ramadan to Eid," said Sukabumi City Police Chief AKBP SY Zainal Abidin in Sukabumi, Antara, Monday, April 4.

According to Zainal, based on the results of monitoring carried out by his personnel at several cooking oil distributors, the supply of bulk and packaged cooking oil is sufficient and is expected to be available until Eid.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of the Sukabumi City Police, Iptu Astuti Setyaningsih, added that there were four distribution and sales locations of cooking oil that had been reviewed by the Sukabumi City Police Satreskrim personnel as the Sukabumi City Food Security Task Force.

The distributor warehouses that are targeted for surveillance are PD Honest, Amanda Stores, CV Kota Baru and Tipar Gede Market. In the four locations, the supply is smooth and the supply of cooking oil, both bulk and packaged, is quite abundant.

"The selling price of bulk cooking oil varies from Rp. 14 thousand/kg to Rp. 18 thousand/kg, then for packaged cooking oil, the price starts from Rp. 21 thousand/liter," he added.

Astuti said the Sukabumi City Police had coordinated with a number of related government agencies and the logistical affairs agency (Bulog) to ensure the availability of basic necessities, especially cooking oil during Ramadan to Eid.

On the other hand, he appealed to residents not to worry anymore because there is sufficient supply of cooking oil in the market and not to panic buying or doing wholesale actions which could result in a lack of supplies and prices soaring again.

His party did not hesitate to take action against unscrupulous entrepreneurs, agents, distributors and traders who took advantage of the momentum of the revocation of the highest retail price regulation (HET) by hoarding so that cooking oil on the market became scarce.
