YOGYAKARTA - A student in the Special Region of Yogyakarta died after being hit by a sharp object on Jalan Gedongkuning, Yogyakarta City.

Dirreskrimum Polda DIY Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi said that he and his colleagues previously chased each other with the perpetrators because they were offended.

"This happened because there was a problem in the early hours of the morning and (they were) still students," Ade said as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 4.

Kombes Ade explained that the incident which occurred at 02.10 WIB began when a group of seven victims riding five motorbikes stopped at a food stall.

"Some (victim groups) have ordered food and most have not had time to lean their motorbikes," he explained.

Not long after, two motorbikes were boarded by five people while blending or playing with the motorbike gas.

"Well, this is the trigger, because it broke, this group of victims finally tried to chase the group of perpetrators to the north on Jalan Gedongkuning," explained Ade.

By riding four motorbikes, the victim and several of his friends then chased the group of perpetrators.

After being chased, the group of perpetrators actually turned around and stopped and then slashed a sharp object suspected of being a gear, hitting the victim's face.

"The victim was on the second motorbike, the position of being ridden in the back because the passenger managed to avoid hitting the victim's face so that the victim suffered injuries to his face," he said.

After the incident, the group of perpetrators fled to the south and the victim who was still alive was rescued by officers from the Directorate of Sabhara Polda DIY who were on patrol and rushed to RSPAU Hardjolukito.

"The victim was successfully secured and taken, rescued to the hospital if he eventually died, died in the hospital," said Ade.
