JAKARTA - The act of vandalism at the prayer room, Tangerang Regency, went viral on social media. The police also arrested a young man with the initials S (18) who was the perpetrator of this vandalism.
"Based on the results of the TKP, witness examinations and existing evidence, thank God, only a few hours after we investigated we secured 1 perpetrator with the initials S at his house," said Tangerang Police Chief, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his statement, Wednesday, September 30.
The video of this vandalism was uploaded by the @ndorobeii Instagram account. The video, which lasts for about 2 minutes, shows several parts of the prayer room, including walls and floors covered with graffiti.
The perpetrator who was arrested was a local resident at the Villa Tangerang Housing, Pasar Kemis, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The perpetrator's house is about 50 meters from the prayer room.
Currently, the police are still investigating the perpetrators to find out the motives behind the vandalism.
"The motive of the perpetrator, we do not know, because it is still being investigated," he said
Meanwhile, the condition of the prayer room has been cleaned again. So that now it can be used again for worship.
"It can be used. We appeal to the public not to be provoked," he said.
