DKI Provincial Government Allows Karaoke To Stay Open Until 9 PM, Prohibits Bars From Selling Alcoholic Drinks During Ramadan

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) issued Circular Letter (SE) Number e-0001/SE/2022 concerning the Time of Organizing Tourism Businesses in the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr in 1443 Hijri.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Disparekraf Andhika Permata said this letter was issued to honor the fasting worship which will begin on Sunday, April 3 tomorrow based on the results of the Isbat session of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag).

"This rule was made to respect the implementation of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, as well as for the common good. This SE regulates the type of business and operating hours during the month of Ramadan," Andhika said in a written statement, Saturday, April 2.

In the circular, Andhika explained that the tourism industry can still operate with some adjustments, certain types of business/sub-types of business must be closed on:

One day before the month of Ramadan; One day before Eid al-Fitr or takbiran night; The first and second days of Eid al-Fitr; One day after Eid Al-Fitr; and the Night of Nuzulul Qur'an

For this type of family karaoke business during the month of Ramadan, it operates from 14.00 WIB to 21.00 WIB. Meanwhile, for types of businesses such as bars or drinking houses that stand alone and become karaoke business facilities, pubs or live music are not allowed to sell alcoholic beverages.

"Unless it is held together with a hotel area of at least four stars," he explained.

Furthermore, this circular also regulates the provisions for the implementation of tourism businesses. The following are the rules that apply during the month of Ramadan for the implementation of tourism businesses:

It is not allowed to put up billboards/posters/publications/and film shows and other shows that are pornographic, pornographic and erotic; Not allowed to cause disturbance to the environment; It is not allowed to provide gifts in any form and type; It is not allowed to provide opportunities for betting/gambling, drug trafficking and use; Must respect/maintain a conducive atmosphere during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr; and Require every employee and encourage visitors to dress modestly.

There are also various sanctions that will be given to violators of the rules in the letter. "Starting from sanctions to the revocation of the tourism business registration mark for businesses that violate the provisions," said Andika.

"It is hoped that tourism business actors in Jakarta can follow the rules that have been set so that the atmosphere of the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta remains comfortable and conducive," he concluded.
