JAKARTA - During his working visit, President Joko Widodo again received the call for "three periods". Jokowi admitted that he had heard it many times.

On the way from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) to Baledono Market in Purworejo Regency, to Pasar Rakyat in Magelang Regency, residents cheered for Jokowi to return to leadership after his term ended in 2024.

Jokowi was also asked about the cry for "three periods". This time, Jokowi answered casually. In fact, Jokowi chuckled when asked to respond.

Jokowi admitted that he had often heard of encouragement so that he could return to the position of President of the Republic of Indonesia in the third term.

"Hehehe. The name of the people's desire, the name of the shouts like that I've often heard," said Jokowi after visiting Borobudur Temple, seen on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube, Wednesday, March 30.

However, Jokowi emphasized that he still adheres to the existing constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution. The term of office of the president and vice president is for five years and can be re-elected only for one term.

"But what is clear is that our constitution is clear. We must obey, we must obey the constitution," said Jokowi.

Recently, the discourse to increase Jokowi's tenure has surfaced. Meanwhile, the Golkar Party, PKB, and PAN had proposed postponing the election and extending Jokowi's term of office.

Finally, at the National Association of Indonesian Village Government Associations (Apdesi) which was attended by Jokowi and Menkomarves Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the call for "three periods" was echoed again.
