Good News For Mukomuko Residents, Free Rabies Vaccination After Eid

MUKOMUKO - The Agriculture Office of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province held a free anti-rabies vaccine for as many as 400 rabies-transmitting animals (HPR) in this area after Eid al-Fitr this year.

"Maybe after Eid. Because the vaccine only arrived in this area on Wednesday, March 23," said Head of Livestock and Animal Health at the Mukomuko Regency Agriculture Service, Fitriani Ilyas, in her statement in Mukomuko, Monday, March 28.

The local Agriculture Service received assistance as many as 400 doses of rabies vaccine for animals such as dogs, cats, and monkeys as pets by local residents from the local provincial government.

He said that the provision of anti-rabies vaccine to as many as 400 HPR pets of local residents was free or free of charge.

While vaccination for further rabies activities, he said, usually if there is an additional anti-rabies vaccine from the provincial government at the end of the year.

He said, related to the distribution of vaccines to prevent rabies in cats, dogs, and monkeys, these residents' pets to three animal health centers (Puskeswan).

He said that for the time being, the vaccine will be stored in the office's warehouse pending the implementation of rabies vaccination for pets until the residents.

According to him, currently, rabies vaccination activities are effective to prevent rabies-transmitting animals such as dog, cat, and monkey pets owned by local residents from contracting rabies.

Meanwhile, he said his party would propose the elimination or extermination of stray dogs that roam this area in this year's revised APBD.

His party has not been able to carry out stray dog elimination activities so far because there is no budget in the APBD to finance these activities.

He said the budget was to buy poison and the operational costs of the local government joint team in carrying out the elimination of stray dogs.

The joint local government team consisted of the TNI, police, Satpol PP and village governments and a pig hunting association.
