Ministry Of Religion: Congregational Capacity In Mosques During Ramadan Adjusts PPKM

JAKARTA - Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Guidance at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Adib said the capacity of congregations in mosques/musalas during Ramadan will adjust to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 18/2022 regarding PPKM.

"We from the Ministry of Religion will continue to support the implementation of Prokes. We will include it in the circular of the Minister of Religion regarding activities at places of worship following the development of PPKM from each region," Adib said in a virtual discussion reported by Antara, Monday, March 28.

In the Instruction of Minister of Home Affairs 18/2022, one of them regulates capacity. Regions with PPKM Level 1 allow 100 percent of activities in a number of public facilities, Level 2 can be 75 percent, and Level 3 only 50 percent.

Adib said that the Ministry of Religion was currently drafting a Circular Letter from the Minister of Religion regarding worship activities during Ramadan. The Ministry of Religion is currently conducting policy harmonization with the Instruction of the Ministry of Home Affairs 18/2022.

Later, the SE will regulate the occupancy of the congregation in the mosque/musala, Ramadan worship activities such as tarawih, Itikaf, breaking the fast together, lectures, takbiran, to the implementation of the Eid prayer.

"In principle, for Ramadan worship, we from the Ministry of Religion appeal to the public to always maintain the health program. About how in detail, among others, we must follow the provisions set by the Ministry of Home Affairs' instructions regarding room capacity according to leveling," he said.

Adib invited all components of the community to play a role. as well as in preventing the transmission of COVID-19 by implementing strict health protocols during worship.

"So that everyone can still carry out worship in a solemn manner in this holy month of Ramadan, but also us while maintaining health protocols," he said.
