JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo hopes that the Hetero for Startup event can bring local start-ups to the national level. In fact, I hope that it will create new unicorns in Indonesia.

Ganjar assesses that there is such a great business opportunity for young people in Indonesia. This can be seen in the rapidly increasing number of participants in Hetero for Start Up season 2.

“The first event has 475 participants, while in the second event there are 1.600 teams. This means that from day to day the interest of the younger generation in creating job opportunities or business opportunities is getting higher. If previously someone complained that it was difficult to find work, then I said we must create job opportunities," said Ganjar in his written statement, Monday, March 28.

Ganjar said the stimulus to bring up local startups to advance to a national and even international scale is considered to be in line with the government's efforts.

Currently, 40 percent of the budget is directed towards spending on domestic products. Therefore, the startup that was born from Hetero for Start Up is expected to be able to enter e-commerce so that its market reach can be wider.

“Currently, there are many facilities provided by the government and stimulus to be accessed by startups. The government's interest is only to ensure the growth and types of youth businesses can be more diverse. One of them is through the Central Java Blangkon application, we will help legalize these startups," explained Ganjar.

Blangkon Central Java is an online shopping application owned by the Central Java Provincial Government that accommodates MSEs/IKM to be involved in it. The Central Java Provincial Government claims that since the application was launched in 2021, the number of transactions has now reached IDR 15 billion.

By utilizing the facilities provided by the government as well as assistance through various programs, one of which is Hetero for Start Up, Ganjar is optimistic that one day new unicorns will appear in Indonesia.

“We still lack young entrepreneurs. Even though the opportunities are big, the incentives given by the government are still high. So it should really be used. Through Hetero for Start Up, we hope to stimulate the emergence of new unicorns in Indonesia," said Ganjar.
