BANDUNG - Approaching Ramadan, the West Java Provincial Government is preparing a strategy for handling Lebaran homecoming activities. President Jokowi has allowed Lebaran homecoming as long as the vaccine is booster.

Head of the West Java Provincial Transportation Service A Koswara said the provincial government was preparing to meet the needs of transportation facilities as well as efforts to secure transportation for residents who wanted to return to their hometowns to celebrate Eid.

In addition, the Department of Transportation cooperates with the Regional Police to design vehicle traffic regulations during the homecoming period.

"We are designing how traffic during homecoming is safe and smooth," said Koswara, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 23.

The provincial government is also preparing a communication and publication strategy to convey information about homecoming services to residents.

Koswara said the provincial government focused on handling three aspects during the homecoming period, namely vehicle traffic, provision of transportation facilities, and publication of homecoming services.

In order to overcome traffic problems during the homecoming period, the provincial government has prepared information on homecoming routes and vehicle traffic, alternative routes, traffic engineering management at priority points, services in rest areas, and strategies to improve traffic safety.

In providing transportation facilities, the provincial government prepares the dissemination of information on transportation services as well as the implementation of supervision of transportation fares and supervision of transportation safety.

Koswara stated the new challenges that emerged during the homecoming period this year. According to him, the easing of restrictions on community activities this year could lead to a surge in homecomers.

"After two years of delay, the number of people who carry out homecoming trips this year is expected to increase," he said.

In this year's Lebaran, the number of homecoming residents is estimated at around 55 million and around 22 percent of them are in Java and Bali.
