JAKARTA - The Gorontalo Regional Police revealed details about the chronology of the shooting of the Director of Detention and Evidence AKBP Beni Mutahir until he was shot dead by a drug prisoner with the initials RY.

AKBP Beni Mutahir died instantly after being shot by RY with a homemade weapon in the head.

It all started when RY told AKBP Beni Mutahir about the household problems he was experiencing. RY then asked AKBP Beni Mutahir to take him home.

It was not explained in detail, what kind of persuasion, so that finally AKBP Beni Mutahir's heart melted in passing RY's request. What is certain, at 03.00 WITA, RY was picked up from the detention room by AKBP Beni Mutahir according to carrying out sahur and preparations for the dawn prayer.

"The victim is a mosque administrator and obedient to worship and routinely carries out sunnah fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. At the time of the incident, the victim had finished eating sahur and preparing for the dawn prayer, so the position of the victim was still wearing a koko shirt, gloves and a skullcap," explained Head of Public Relations of the Gorontalo Police, Kombes Wahyu Tri Cahyono in a release quoted from the official website of the Gorontalo Police, Wednesday, March 23.

AKBP Beni Mutahir at that time told the guard that he wanted to take the perpetrator for 15 minutes. Then they both went to the victim's residence.

At around 04.00 WITA, RPY, who is the younger brother of the perpetrator, heard an argument in the living room between the victim and the perpetrator. At that time, the victim slapped the perpetrator and asked for forgiveness by saying 'pardon the commander'.

Somehow the story, then the perpetrator slammed the victim's cellphone. Seeing that the situation was becoming increasingly unfavorable, RPY went to the kitchen to get drinking water, after returning, RPY saw firsthand the perpetrator pointed a homemade firearm and shot the victim once, resulting in the victim's death.

“After shooting, the perpetrator gave the homemade firearm to his sister, RPY, and tried to escape through the airport. However, the situation at that time was still early and there were no flights, so the perpetrator decided to hide at his parents' house and there was arrested by the joint team of the Gorontalo Regional Police, "explained Wahyu.

The Gorontalo Police have named RY (31) and RPY (23) as suspects. The confiscated evidence consisted of homemade firearms, cellphones and clothes belonging to the victim.
