KPU Determines 486 Candidate Pairs To Meet The Conditions To Participate In The Pilkada

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has determined that 486 candidate pairs are declared eligible as regional head candidate pairs in the 2020 Pilkada.

A total of 13 candidates for governor and deputy governor candidates who met the requirements, and a total of 473 candidates for regent and deputy regent, as well as mayor and deputy mayor candidates.

"We say that this data will still change until the input silon (candidate information system) in the regions is completed. This is in order to meet the need for fast data and information disclosure," KPU Commissioner Evi Novida Ginting Manik told reporters, Thursday, September 24.

This figure is obtained from the results of the registration stage with a number of administrative requirements and health checks, from as many as 743 prospective pairs of candidates who registered.

More specifically, there were 2 prospective pairs of candidates (bapaslon) who registered but were rejected, while 741 other candidates were accepted when registering.

"The election of governors and deputy governors with the status of being accepted is 25 chaplains spread across 9 provinces," said Evi.

Then, the regent and deputy regent's bapaslon received when registering were 615 bapaslon from 236 districts. The mayors and deputy mayors who were recruited when registering were 101 chaplones from 46 cities.

The election for governors and deputy governors from the political party line is 25 candidates. Then, the election of regents and deputy regents or mayors and deputy mayors from the party route was 672 candidates and 69 others from the individual route.

"The total single candidate area is 25 districts / cities," said Evi.

After the registration stage, the KPU then determined the pair of candidates on Wednesday, September 23 until today.

For the time being, the total number of provinces that have made the determination are 5 out of 9 provinces. Then, the total districts / cities that have made the determination are 182 of the 261 districts / cities. Meanwhile, there have been 486 candidate pairs that have met the requirements.
