Elderly Woman Found Dead After Missing Two Days

SIAK - The team from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Siak Regency, Riau Province, finally found the body of an elderly woman named Ong Giok Chin, or fondly called Ring (61) 7 kilometers from the last location on Wednesday afternoon, March 16.

"The body was found in Teluk Salak by residents there, then our quick reaction team picked up and taken to the hospital," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Regional Disaster Management Agency, Siak BPBD, Syapriwal, as quoted by Antara on Thursday, March 17.

The victim was previously reported to have fallen and drowned in the Siak River from the shores of Turap Siak on Tuesday morning 15 March.

The victim, who was found by residents at around 17.00 western Indonesia time, was then wrapped in a body bag. With the discovery of this body, he continued, the operations of BPBD and other related parties have ended.

"The public is advised to be careful in the Siak river, if you don't need to go to the cliff, you don't have to because it is dangerous," he said.

Previously, Grandma Ring fell into the Siak River with her bicycle on the bank known as Turap Singapura, in front of the Hock Siu Kiong Temple.

The incident was initially discovered by a resident who was fishing at the scene. Witness Abeng admitted that he heard the rush of water, but with his back to the river.

But he admits to seeing Ring under the rim of the sheet pile without riding a bicycle.

After a while falling into the river, the victim's hat and sandals were seen floating in the river. While the bicycle can be pulled with a hook, the grandmother's whereabouts were unknown until she was found.
