Pulogadung Residents Panic There Are People Claiming Police Bring Guns, But Take Gold And Money From Retail Coffee Sellers

JAKARTA - Sumiyati (43) and her child became victims of a robbery at her house on Jalan Cinta, Pulogadung Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta. The perpetrator, who carried a gun and claimed to be a member of the Pulogadung Police, managed to bring cash and a gold bracelet.

Sumiyati said the incident began when the perpetrator came to her house pretending to buy coffee. Then, said Sumiati, the perpetrator immediately took off his jacket and pointed a gun.

"He entered the house and said there was a raid to arrest Hendrik. Then I was told to leave the house with my son," he told reporters, Wednesday, March 16.

Sumiyati was confused because there was no family member named Hendrik. Sumiati also told the perpetrators that what they were looking for might be her neighbor.

Hearing these words, the perpetrator, who was pointing a gun at the time, asked Sumiati to take him to Hendrik's house.

"I was taken, told to ride a motorbike with my child. I followed the perpetrator but I was put down. Then my child was still taken and was also handcuffed, my child was put into other people's houses accused of being a thief, he said, 'This is still development, the thief,' explained Sumiyati.

"He searched it, but what he took was a gold bracelet and hundreds of thousands of money in a shop and cellphone," continued Sumiati.

However, the cellphone that was taken by the perpetrator was successfully saved by the child who at that time pretended to ask for the handcuffs to be removed.

"My son was handcuffed, but he took the initiative to ask for the handcuffs to be opened because he was too tight. When the handcuffs were opened, my son ran away with his cellphone," he said.

Responding to the case, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pulogadung Police, AKP Heru Sugiarto said that his party had checked the crime scene (TKP).

"We have checked the crime scene and then carried out an investigation to catch the perpetrators," said Heru, who revealed the victim's loss was as much as Rp. 2.7 million.
