JAKARTA - The soaring price and scarcity of cooking oil in traditional markets to large retailers has an impact on limiting public purchases of cooking oil needs.

As previously known, consumers can only buy 2 packs of one liter cooking oil per person. That is, the purchase of a two-liter package, a maximum of only 1 bag.

The purchase restrictions will apply until the supply of cooking oil returns to normal in the community. Despite the restrictions on the purchase of cooking oil, it does not dampen the persistence of a middle-aged woman from Cibinong, Bogor, West Java, in her search for cooking oil.

Sri (60) admitted that she came from Cibinong to a supermarket in the Pondok Bambu area, East Jakarta just to buy one package containing 2 liters of cooking oil. Sri said she received information from her relative who lives in East Jakarta, regarding the existence of a supermarket that still sells cooking oil.

"From Cibinong (deliberately) looking for cooking oil. Because in Cibinong you can't get cooking oil," he said while holding a package of cooking oil containing 2 liters, Tuesday, March 15, yesterday afternoon.

Sri admitted that he had visited several large retailers in the Bogor area to buy cooking oil, but his hopes were dashed because the stock was empty.

"It's the same (difficulty getting oil in Bogor). It's not available to Transmart (Bogor). Moreover, to Alfa, you won't get it," he said.

While responding to the purchase restrictions that are still being applied to consumers, Sri admitted that she already knew about it. In fact, he was willing to come from Bogor to Jakarta just to get 2 liters of packaged cooking oil.

"I already know, the purchase is limited to only 2 packages (2 liters). The price doesn't matter, the important thing is that there is stock (cooking oil)," he said.
