Task Force Highlights Low Vaccination Coverage In These 15 Provinces

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiki Adisasmito, regrets the trend of the COVID-19 vaccination rate which is decreasing and is no longer massive this March.

In fact, said Wiku, vaccination must continue to be increased, especially in provinces that are still experiencing high weekly case additions with low vaccination coverage and rates.

Wiku also highlighted 15 provinces where the coverage of the second and third dose (booster) vaccinations was still low, while weekly cases were still high.

The provinces include Banten, NTT, West Kalimantan, Lampung, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Aceh, North Sulawesi, West Papua, Bengkulu, South Kalimantan, Papua and West Sulawesi.

"The complete dose vaccination coverage in all provinces is still less than 70 percent. Even with the booster vaccine coverage, no one has yet reached 30 percent," said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, March 15.

Wiku emphasized that community immunity is one of the keys to the sustainability of activities and productivity, especially related to the economy during this pandemic.

Therefore, he reminded local governments to again increase the coverage of complete and booster doses of vaccination in their regions.

"Moreover, we will soon enter a period of fasting and Eid. For this reason, the public is also requested to immediately complete the vaccine and carry out boosters as the foundation of community immune defense," said Wiku.
