North Sumatra's Turn To Host HPN 2023

JAKARTA - North Sumatra Province has been designated as the host for the upcoming 2023 National Press Day (HPN). Previously, HPN 2022 took place in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi on 6-9 February 2022.

This was conveyed by the General Chairperson of Atal S Depari while being served lunch with the Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Afifi Lubis, Head of North Sumatra Kominfo Dr. Kaiman Turnip, and Head of North Sumatra PWI Farianda Putra Sinik at a restaurant in Jakarta Monday 14 March.

The head of the Central PWI, Atal Sembiring Depari, said that North Sumatra was chosen as the host because it was the most prepared compared to other provinces.

In fact, said Atal, the recommendations from the Governor, DPRD, and PWI of North Sumatra have been declared complete.

"There are several regions that have expressed their interest, for example, Aceh. So are the Riau Islands, but it's still informal. For North Sumatra everything is complete," said Atal.

The determination of the North Sumatra Province as the Host of the 2023 HPN was warmly welcomed by the North Sumatran PWI. The reason is, for almost 30 years the implementation of the North Sumatran HPN did not get to be the host.

"Alhamdulillah, today it has been decided that North Sumatra has the honor to host the 2023 HPN. I as the Chair of the North Sumatra PWI feel happy, proud, and touched because it has been almost 30 years of HPN, North Sumatra does not get to host it. So, I am very grateful to The chairman of the Central PWI and his staff for their trust in providing an opportunity for North Sumatra to hold HPN 2023, and also thank you for the support of the Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi and the chairman of the DPRDSU Baskami Ginting," said Farianda.

Farianda hopes that the upcoming HPN will run smoothly and successfully.

"Because as we know, one of the positive impacts of HPN is to increase regional economic income where the HPN is held. Likewise, there will be national issues that will be born later in HPN 2023," he added.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government enthusiastically welcomes the trust given by the Central PWI regarding the appointment of North Sumatra as the host of the 2023 National Press Day.

"This is a matter of pride for us and of course, we will prepare for the event, because we know very well that the existence of journalists as supporters in a process of government, development, and society is very important," said Acting Secretary of North Sumatra, Afifi Lubis.

His party, said Afifi, will try to be a good host, which is expected to be able to contribute to the interests of North Sumatra and the interests of the press itself.

"Through the moment of the national press day, which will be held, insha Allah, in North Sumatra in 2023, we will try to be a good host," he said.

After the lunch, which was also attended by members of the Press Council Agus Sudibyo, PWI Secretary General Mirza Zulhadi, Head of Organizational Affairs Zulkifli Gani Ottoh, Head of Education Nurjaman Mohtar, Head of Cyber and IT Division Auri Jaya, General Treasurer Mohammad Ichsan, and Deputy General Treasurer Dar Edi Yoga continued with the submission of a Decree from the Central PWI regarding the appointment of North Sumatra as the host of the 2023 HPN which took place at the Central PWI Secretariat.
