JAKARTA - After a work accident at the Dieng Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) drilling well, Banjarnegara Police Chief AKBP Hendri Yulianto ensured that the conditions were safe and under control.
"At this time there are no sparks or gas, so people don't need to panic because conditions are under control," Hendri was quoted as saying by Antara, Sunday, March 13.
He added that his party had installed a police line at the PAD 28 Geo Dipa well which was the location of the incident.
"We have installed a police line, the situation is under control; and it should also be noted that the location of the well is far from residential areas," he added.
He explained that the accident that occurred in Pawuan Hamlet, Karangtengah Village, Saturday afternoon, March 12, occurred when the workers were about to clean up the old well at PAD 28 Geo Dipa.
"This work accident begins with well cleaning activities. Regular cleaning of these wells is usually done," he explained.
Based on the information he received, the cleaning activities had been carried out in accordance with a good standard operating procedure (SOP). However, 20 minutes after the purge, it was suspected that toxic gas had been emitted which resulted in the incident.
"As a result of the incident, the victim was unconscious. After being evacuated, the victim was taken by Geo Dipa officers to the Wonosobo Hospital," he said.
He said one person died in the accident, so the police will conduct an autopsy while waiting for the family's approval.
