BANJARMASIN - University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) is looking for memorizing the Qur'an to become students at state universities in South Kalimantan.
"Please, for high school graduates and equivalent this year who can memorize the Qur'an to join ULM, we provide a special quota," said ULM Deputy Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Prof. Aminuddin Prahatama Putra in Banjarmasin, Antara, Friday, March 11.
He stated that ULM really hopes that more hafiz Qur'an will become students this year. In addition to the regular pathway, namely the National Selection for State University Entrance (SNMPTN) and Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN), ULM also provides hafiz Qur'an to be able to enter the independent selection starting from June 1 to October 7, 2022 registration.
According to Prof. Amin, as Aminuddin Prahatama Putra is usually called, increasing students who are religious scholars, including memorizing the Qur'an, is a priority for ULM to create an academic atmosphere with character and integrity.
Then the memorizers of the Qur'an are also prepared to take part in the National Student Tilawatil Qur'an Musabaqoh (MTQMN) which is held every year.
Even in September 2021, ULM hosted the 2nd year edition of MTQMN which was held virtually in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Participants came from 120 universities throughout Indonesia with five branches being contested, namely Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an, Musabaqah Tartil Qur'an, Musabaqah Syarhil Qur'an, Musabaqah KTI Qur'an Content and Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur'an 10 and 20 Juz.
Prof. Amin revealed that there is also a special disability path for prospective students with special needs. This is a form of ULM being a disability-friendly campus with the availability of supporting infrastructure including volunteers who are tasked with helping students with special needs during lectures.
