After The KPU Chair, Commissioner Pramono Was Also Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi announced that he was infected with COVID-19. This information follows KPU Chairman Arief Budiman who previously tested positive for COVID-19.

"I want to inform you that based on the swab test I got this afternoon, I tested positive for COVID-19," Pramono told reporters, Saturday, September 19.

Pramono explained that at this time he did not experience any symptoms, or was included in the COVID-19 case category without symptoms. Prior to being tested positive for COVID-19, Pramono did several electoral tasks with Arief at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"We both attended the MoU event between the KPU and Hasanudin University, Makassar, which was followed by a seminar at the Unhas campus on September 14-15," said Pramono.

"Next, both of us (along with other commissioners) also attended the Sirekap simulation in Depok, West Java which was held on Wednesday, September 16," he continued.

Since yesterday, Pramono has been self-isolating at his official residence. Meanwhile, his family continues to live in his private house in Tangerang.

"I still carry out my preparatory tasks for the 2020 Pilkada through work from home," said Pramono.

KPU chairman Arief Budiman previously stated that he was positively infected with COVID-19. Arief said, he tested positive for COVID-19 while doing a swab test on the night of September 17.

"On the evening of September 17, we conducted a swab test to be used as a condition for attending a meeting at the Bogor Palace on September 18 with a positive result," said Arief in a short message to journalists, Friday, September 18.

That way, the meeting activities at the Bogor Palace today are represented by other KPU members. Previously, Arief conducted a rapid test with non-reactive results on September 16.

Currently, Arief is undergoing independent isolation for 14 days. Arief admitted that he was positive for COVID-19 without experiencing any symptoms.

"On the 18th morning, we have started to carry out self-quarantine because there are no symptoms, cough, fever, runny nose or shortness of breath," he said. Arief asked all parties to pray for him to get well soon. "Please pray from all parties so that health can be given to us all. Hopefully health and safety will always be devoted to the Indonesian nation," he said.
