JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has canceled an appeal against the decision of the State Administrative Court (PTUN) regarding the dredging of the Mampang River.

The revocation of this appeal was carried out by the Legal Bureau of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretariat after receiving directions from Anies. This appeal was also withdrawn after receiving various criticisms from the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

The head of the DKI Legal Bureau, Yayan Yuhanah, revealed that Anies decided to withdraw the appeal because the panel of judges did not state that the DKI Provincial Government had committed an unlawful act.

"The revocation of this appeal is based on the direction of the Governor of DKI Jakarta after seeing that, in its decision, the panel of judges did not state that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had committed an unlawful act," Yayan said in his statement, Thursday, March 10.

Another consideration for revocation of the appeal was because the panel of judges also rejected 5 of the 7 demands of the plaintiffs in this case. The plaintiffs in this case are a number of residents of the Mampang River flood victims.

There were also 5 demands that were rejected by the Jakarta Administrative Court judges, namely the widening of the Krukut River in Pela Mampang Village, river dredging which has not been routinely carried out since 2017 in Krukut River, the dredging of the Cipinang River which has experienced silting, the construction of embankments on the banks of the Cipinang River and demands for compensation. The Plaintiffs worth Rp1.15 billion.

Meanwhile, 2 demands that were granted by the panel of judges were to require the DKI Provincial Government to completely dredge the Mampang River to the Pondok Jaya area and to require the DKI Provincial Government to process the construction of river sheet piles in Pela Mampang Village.

"In this case, the panel of judges has considered that only 2 demands were deemed not optimal by the DKI Provincial Government in Mampang River, and actually the DKI Provincial Government has made efforts to overcome the flood problem in the Mampang River area," Yayan explained.

Yayan admitted that the initial reason Anies filed an appeal to the PTUN was because it followed standard procedures in the entire process of handling cases at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. In the end, the appeal was withdrawn.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is still carrying out the dredging of the Mampang River and the construction of river sheet piles according to the decision.

Previously, Anies' appeal in the Jakarta Administrative Court decision regarding the dredging of the Mampang River drew criticism from the DKI DPRD, both the opposition and its coalition parties, including PDIP, PSI, and Gerindra.
