Mayor: Surabaya PPKM Level 2 Time To Awaken The Economy

SURABAYA - Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, stated that the City of Heroes, East Java, currently has the status of Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level 2, so it is time to revive the economy.

"Alhamdulillah, the agglomeration area of Greater Surabaya has returned to Level 2, this is the time to revive the economy that has already been implemented," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 8.

Surabaya entered PPKM Level 2 based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 15 of 2022 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Level 4, Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 in Java and Bali.

Therefore, he continued, the Surabaya City Government remains determined to improve the economy in the City of Heroes.

"The decline to PPKM Level 2 is seen from the number of patients treated at the hospital, then the number of deaths," he said.

Referring to Inmendagri No. 15 of 2022, he said, the assessment of the agglomeration area was calculated as one unit and for the assessment of indicators for adjusting public health efforts and social restrictions in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Eri said, his party reminded that the City of Surabaya is the capital city of East Java Province and cannot limit services or treatments for COVID-19 patients who have Surabaya and non-Surabaya ID cards.

"Because, if the regional hospital is not able to handle it, it will be referred to the city of Surabaya," he said.

Regarding the implementation of PPKM Level 2 in the education sector, namely the application of Face-to-face Learning (PTM) in the city of Surabaya, Eri said that he would conduct an evaluation for the next 3-4 days by discussing with Pentahelix and the Surabaya City Education Office (Dispendik).

"The plan is 50 percent PTM, because previously it was 25 percent PTM," he said.

As for the tourism sector at the opening of the city park, Eri admitted that he would conduct an evaluation for the next 3-4 days with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Satpol PP and Surabaya City Linmas.

"Because many have missed the park and Tunjungan Romansa. So, to maintain the condition of the city of Surabaya to be better, the public must continue to tighten health protocols," he said.

Furthermore, for supermarkets, hypermarts, traditional markets, grocery stores and supermarkets that sell daily necessities, operating hours are limited to 21.00 WIB local time with a capacity of 75 percent of visitors.

"Food stalls/warteg, street vendors, hawker stalls like that are not permitted with strict health protocols until 21.00 WIB local time with a maximum of 75 percent of visitors eating at capacity," he said.

Furthermore, he said, the activities of shopping centers/malls/trade centers will be opened with a maximum capacity of 75 percent until 21.00 WIB. As for the cinema, it operates with a maximum capacity of 70 percent.

Then, places of worship can hold worship/religious activities during PPKM Level 2 with a maximum of 75 percent of capacity.

"For the implementation of the wedding reception, it can be held with a maximum of 50 percent of the room capacity and not holding a meal on the spot," he said.
