TANJUNGPINANG - The PMI Special Task Force (Satgassus) said the number of COVID-19 patients at the Galang Island Hospital, Batam, Riau Islands increased to 374 people.
"Although the number of patients has increased, the condition of the Galang Hospital is safe and under control," said Commander of the PMI Task Force Brigadier General Jimmy Ramoz Manalu in Tanjungpinang, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 7.
The number of patients consisted of 343 patients of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) and 31 patients who were residents of Batam.
On the previous day, Sunday (6/3), there were 89 additional patients from PMI and three from Batam residents who entered the Galang Hospital, and one patient from PMI left the Galang Hospital to be referred to the Batam Hospital.
Brigadier General Jimmy said the current occupancy of RSKI Galang is 81.30 percent of the total 460 available beds.
He ordered all personnel on duty in the field to remain alert to PMI entering Indonesia through the Batam area, considering the high number of patients at the RSKI originating from the PMI cluster.
Jimmy also hopes that the officers can maintain their own health while on duty so as not to be exposed to COVID-19.
"I hope that colleagues who are on duty in the field can maintain their own health by staying disciplined with health protocols to avoid exposure to COVID-19," he said.
