Airlangga Said, The Reproduction Rate Of COVID-19 Cases In Almost All Regions Outside Java-Bali Has Decreased

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartato revealed that the reproduction number of COVID-19 cases showed a decline in almost all regions outside Java-Bali.

The average reproduction rate (Rt) or transmission resulting from each case in Nusa Tenggara Island was 1.14, Maluku 1.1, Kalimantan 1.1, Sumatra 1.09, Sulawesi 1.09, and Papua 1.08.

"Regarding cases outside Java-Bali, it can be seen that the reproduction number of effective cases has decreased significantly in almost all islands, although it is slightly above number 1," Airlangga said in a virtual press conference, Monday, March 7.

Likewise with daily confirmation cases. Airlangga said the increase in new cases as of March 6, 2022, outside Java-Bali has shown a decline, which amounted to 8.158 cases.

This figure decreased from the peak of daily cases outside Java-Bali on February 23 of 19.807 new cases.

Then, active cases outside Java-Bali as of March 6 were 171.217 cases. This amount decreased from the peak of active cases as of March 3, which was 183.482 cases.

"So, several provinces have passed the peak of cases, the trend of decreasing cases is in North Sulawesi, Papua, South Sumatra, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, Lampung, and Riau. Which is still rising in West Kalimantan and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)," explained Airlangga.

Furthermore, Airlangga revealed that the COVID-19 bed occupancy ratio (BOR) outside Java-Bali was only 10 percent of the 36.470 beds provided.

Although there are still three provinces whose BOR is still high, Airlangga said the conditions are still under control.

"Regarding BOR, there are still three provinces that are high but still under control, namely North Sumatra with 21,338 cases, 37 percent BOR with 21 percent conversion. East Kalimantan, 15.603 active cases, 44 percent BOR, and 25 percent conversion. South Sulawesi, 15.131 active cases, the BOR is 31 percent and the conversion is 18 percent," he added.
