Ahead Of The 2024 General Election, PBNU Chairperson Asks This To All Cadres

KEDIRI - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, went on a safari to a number of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch Managers to stay in touch with Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) administrators in various regions in Indonesia.

In the safari, the man who is familiarly called Gus Yahya also reminded all NU cadres without exception to stay away from practical politics ahead of the upcoming 20224 elections. Moreover, the message is emphasized more on cadres who are currently serving as NU administrators or serving as leaders in the community.

In fact, Gus Yahya emphasized that NU will give strict sanctions to cadres who are proven to have participated in practical political activities in the field.

"(If there is a violation) we will immediately issue a written warning letter stage one. If it is repeated again, we will get a written letter for stage two. We will continue to punish firmly until (the status of cadres/management) is frozen. So basically it's not allowed," said Gus Yahya, while on a safari to the Kediri Regency PCNU Office, as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 6.

As evidence of NU's firmness in this matter, PBNU once summoned the Chairpersons of the Banyuwangi and Sidoarjo Regency PCNUs, who were suspected of being involved in the alleged involvement in practical politics of supporting presidential candidates.

The chairman of PCNU Banyuwangi was summoned after PBNU received a report on the political agenda of the 2024 Presidential Election which allegedly involved the Banyuwangi PCNU. There was even an activity held at the PCNU Banyuwangi office on Wednesday, January 19, by bringing in one of the presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, to summon the Sidoarjo PCNU from the activity report initiated by the Sidoarjo PKB DPC and involving all MWCNU in Sidoarjo Regency. For this reason, the Chairs of PCNU Banyuwangi and Sidoarjo were asked to immediately provide written and complete reports for the next two PCNU Chairs were asked to submit directly to the General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf at the PBNU office.
