JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extended the detention period for the inactive Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi and four other suspects in the alleged bribery case for the procurement of goods and services and the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said that the detention period was extended for 30 days starting today, Friday, March 4.

"The investigative team has extended the detention period for the suspected bribe recipient on behalf of RE et al," said Ali in a written statement, Friday, March 4.

The extension of this detention is carried out according to a court order. Ali said that in this extension the process of collecting evidence is still being carried out by KPK investigators.

Rahmat Effendi was detained at the KPK Rutan, the Red and White Building with Wahyudin. Meanwhile, the other suspects are M. Bunyamin; Mulyadi alias Bayong; and Jumhana Lutfi was detained at the KPK Rutan Kavling C1.

Meanwhile, the four suspected givers are the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril; private party, Lai Bui Min; Director of Bintang Rayatri City, Suryadi; and the sub-district head of Rawalumbu, Makhfud Saifudin.
