Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine Causes Avtovaz To Temporarily Close Factories

JAKARTA - The invasion of Ukraine had an unfavorable impact on Russia in all sectors. The Red Bear Country's automotive sector is no exception.

The top automotive manufacturer, Russia Avtovaz, felt the impact of his country's policy of invading Ukraine. Russia's Avtovaz was forced to suspend operations for four days at the Togliatti Plant and the Izhevsk Plant due to component availability issues.

"We are grappling with a component supply crisis, particularly electronic components," the company said in a statement as reported by Reuters, quoted by Antara.

Last week, Russia's Renault said it was halting production in Moscow from February 28 to March 5 due to "component supply disruptions" caused by tight control over the border region.

"The disruption is mainly due to tighter border controls in transit countries and the forced need to change some of the existing logistics routes," they said, without naming any countries associated with the border.

Avtovaz, which is part of the French Renault Group, is a Lada-branded car manufacturer. They operate the largest car factory in Russia after the Volkswagen-affiliated Skoda car factory.

The Avtovaz factory not only produces Lada-branded sedans and SUVs but also produces the Renault Logan and Renault Sandero, as well as the Datsun on-DO sedan and the Datsun Mi-DO hatchback.
