KY: Competency Assessment Measures The Ability Of Candidates For Supreme Court Justices

JAKARTA - The competency and personality assessments are aimed at measuring the ability of each candidate for a Supreme Court justice, Chairperson of the Judicial Commission (KY) Judge Recruitment Division, Siti Nurdjanah.

Siti Nurdjanah said this assessment consisted of 12 competencies. The 12 competencies consist of integrity, professionalism, self-management, cooperation, effective communication, planning, and organizing.

Next is leadership, global understanding, legal technical insight, case management, legal reasoning, and judicial decision making, as well as nationalism and statehood insight.

For the assessment assessors, it is known that the background is a psychologist and the substantive assessors are Supreme Court justices assigned by the Supreme Court (MA), former Supreme Court justices, and legal experts.

In addition, said Nurdjanah, to enrich the assessment of the technical competence of the candidates, this year KY also involves law professors to conduct technical interviews.

The competency and personality assessment of the selection of candidates for Supreme Court justices was attended by 55 participants consisting of 36 people from the criminal chamber, five from the civil chamber, six people from the religious chamber, and eight people from the special tax administration chamber.

"Of the 55 candidates for Supreme Court justices, 43 of them are from the career path and 12 from the non-career path," she said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, March 3.

The competency and personality assessments, which will be held from March 1 to 11, 2022, are still using the online method or the same as those held in 2020 and 2021 because they are still in the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

"Participants are divided into several virtual classes and will undergo a job simulation as a chief justice," she said.
