Polda Metro Jaya Detains Golkar Politician Azis Samual Suspect Of Mastermind In Beating KNPI Chairman

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya investigators detained Golkar Party politician Azis Samual after he was named a suspect in the case of beating the DPP Chairperson of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) Haris Pertama.

"Yes, starting tonight," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Endra Zulpan as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 2.

Azis was detained after the police named him a suspect for his role in ordering the beating of Haris Pertama.

Previously, it was reported that the General Chair of the KNPI DPP, Haris Pertama, was the victim of a beating at a restaurant in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Monday, February 21 at noon. Later that night, Haris reported the incident to the Polda Metro Jaya.

Based on this report, the Polda Metro Jaya investigators then arrested three suspects for the beatings in less than 24 hours. The three were arrested in Tanjung Priok and Bekasi, on Tuesday, February 22.

The three suspects are MS alias Bram and JT alias Johar who are known to have played a role in beating Haris, and SS who played a role in ordering the beating of Haris.

There are still two other suspects who fled while being arrested. However, on Friday, February 25, another suspect, Irfan, surrendered himself to the Polda Metro Jaya. Meanwhile, the last suspect, Harfi alias Avice, also surrendered on Sunday, February 27.

Investigators from the Polda Metro Jaya will then schedule the examination of Azis on Tuesday, March, at 10:00 WIB, and the person concerned arrives at around 09:42 WIB.

The summons to Azis was made based on the results of the examination of the five suspects who were arrested first.

After the examination, the Polda Metro Jaya investigators then carried out a case title that culminated in the determination of the suspect and the detention of Azis Samual.
