YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti asked all village heads and staff to always be aware of the development of COVID-19 cases in their respective areas, including data on residents who are currently undergoing independent isolation at home. The village head was also asked to actively monitor the progress of the residents.

“This data for residents who are self-isolating is very important. The goal is for sub-districts or regions to also carry out monitoring," said Haryadi in Yogyakarta, Antara, Wednesday, March 2.

According to him, patients who are undergoing self-isolation at home are required to be disciplined in implementing health protocols, not interacting with other people so that they do not have the potential to transmit the virus to other residents.

By implementing health protocols and maintaining interactions, it is hoped that COVID-19 cases will stop in these patients. "Cases must stop at the patient himself, not infect others," he said.

He asked residents not to hesitate to report to the device in the area, especially the RT management if confirmed COVID-19.

"Don't be shy or embarrassed to report. Don't be afraid to be shunned by others because of exposure to COVID-19. Residents will not isolate themselves but will be helped," he said.

Currently, Haryadi said, there are still people who give negative stigma to residents who are exposed to COVID-19 so that patients choose not to report to the RT management.

"In fact, there will be more potential for widespread transmission. It is possible that the patient does not experience any symptoms. However, he can still infect other people, he said.

If the patient cannot undergo self-isolation at home due to various reasons, such as housing conditions are not possible, then the Yogyakarta City Government is currently operating two integrated isolation shelters in the Bener Towers 1 and 2 Flats.

One of the urban villages in the city of Yogyakarta, namely Giwangan, has also reactivated the isolation shelter facility for confirmed COVID-19 patients by utilizing the local LPMK Building.

"We have reactivated the shelter. We took advantage of the second floor of the LPMK building, which happens to be located close to the village office," said Giwangan Village Head Dyah Murniwarini.

The shelter with a capacity of six rooms is specially prepared for patients from Giwangan Village. One room is filled with one patient. Until now, the isolation shelter has not been filled with patients.

“Residents can still undergo self-isolation at home or in integrated isolation shelters. "Hopefully, cases can go down," he said.

On Wednesday, in Yogyakarta City, there were an additional 507 new cases of COVID-19 with 198 patients recovering or completing isolation and four patients dying. Thus, there are currently 4,003 active cases in the city.
