JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Water Resources Service (SDA) ensures that the Ciliwung River normalization program continues with priority in seven urban villages which are locations prone to inundation.

Head of the DKI Jakarta SDA Agency, Yusmada Faizal, said that currently one of the seven priority areas for land is being normalized by land acquisition, namely in Cawang Village, East Jakarta.

"Yes, it's still going on. There is already (land acquisition). I reported earlier that what we freed in Cawang we started (normalization) with the PUPR Ministry," said Yusmada, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 1.

Yusmada explained that the normalization of Ciliwung is now focused on seven villages, namely Cawang, Rawajati, Kebon Baru, Manggarai, Pengadegan, Bidara Cina and Kampung Melayu. Normalization no longer focuses on the length of the target that needs to be achieved, but refers to flood-prone points.

"The approach is not that long. The approach is that if the PUPR Ministry 'spots' potential critical areas, there are seven urban villages that are priority areas to be handled in Ciliwung. Cawang, Rawajati, are one of them," he said.

Yusmada said, in principle, the capacity building program in big rivers such as Ciliwung and Sunter, continues to be intensified gradually. However, in the process, administrative obstacles were found, such as land acquisition.

"The problem is administration, many object. It takes time, it takes a process," he said.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) targeted land acquisition for river normalization by 2022, which consisted of 293 plots of land spread throughout the Jakarta area.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria at the Jakarta City Hall, some time ago, detailed that the land consisted of 19 plots of land on the Ciliwung Riverbank, 151 plots in Rawajati Village and 18 plots in Pesanggrahan River.

Then 68 fields in the Kali Sunter-Cipinang area, 20 fields in Pondok Bambu Village, three fields in Cipinang Village and 10 fields in Ganceng Street.

One plot of land in Kali Kramat-Pondok Kelapa and three other parcels which are in the stage of deliberation with the land owner. If accumulated, a total of 293 land parcels will be acquired immediately.
