JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Regional Police opened command posts at four points at the location of the West Sumatra earthquake that hit West Pasaman Regency on Friday, February 25 morning and resulted in fatalities, injuries and a number of houses and buildings were damaged.

He said the evacuation sites for residents were in the courtyard of the West Pasaman Regent's office and at the Simpang Tigo Abu soccer field, Nagari Kajai, Talamau District.

His party also distributed assistance in the form of basic necessities, instant food, and drinking water for the needs of the people affected by the earthquake.

In addition, the police together with the TNI and the local BPBD have evacuated earthquake victims in that location. "We continue to advise the public to stay away from places prone to landslides due to the earthquake," said Grand Commissioner Pol Satake as quoted by ANTARA.

Previously, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed the West Sumatra Police to move quickly to provide assistance and treatment for victims of an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 in West Pasaman Regency.

"I ask the area to immediately step down and take steps to help," he said.

He asked the ranks in the West Sumatra region to immediately provide shelter or refugee tents for the people affected by the earthquake. In addition to carrying out the evacuation process for local residents.
