JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said more than 24 million people used a free wireless internet connection or WiFi spread over 9,250 points in the capital city during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In Jakarta, there are more than 9,250 WiFi points that anyone can access," Anies said in Urban 20 Talks quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 24.

According to him, the internet network was provided to support remote school children and people working from home due to restrictions on community activities related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anies explained that the provision of internet access is also to support the Jakarta Kini (JaKi) digital application platform developed by the DKI Provincial Government.

JaKi is a digital application to monitor the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic to the distribution of cases, tracking, vaccination to prevention efforts contained in one application.

Anies said apart from accessibility, there are three other criteria that must be met in the JaKi digital platform.

The three criteria in the JaKi platform, he said, were integration of health services, then inclusiveness, for example case recording, vaccination registration and synchronization of the PeduliLindung application.

Furthermore, the collaborative criteria, namely providing space for people who want to contribute to assisting social activities.

"We are able to serve 80 types of public service affairs in one platform and that is thanks to the collaboration that is done by young people," said Anies.

Anies plans to bring DKI Jakarta's experience in managing the digitization of JaKi services to discussion at the U20 Forum which is scheduled to be held in August 2022.
