South Sumatra BNN Thwarts Circulation Of 3.5 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Pekanbaru

PALEMBANG - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Sumatra Province has thwarted the circulation of 3.5 kilograms of methamphetamine from Pekanbaru, Riau.

South Sumatra BNN head, Brigadier General Djoko Prihadi, said the methamphetamine was obtained after BNN officers searched a silver minibus with police number BE-2362-T at the Keramasan toll gate, Palembang, Tuesday, February 22.

The methamphetamine evidence was packaged in three packets of Guanyin Wang green tea wrapped in aluminum foil and stored in a car drawer.

It is suspected that the methamphetamine will be sent to OKI Regency, South Sumatra, by two couriers, namely Andre and Nurohman, residents of Medan, North Sumatra.

"The two couriers were named suspects and secured at the South Sumatra BNNP Office for further investigation", said Djoko.

According to Djoko, the suspect confessed to investigators that they were paid IDR 10 million per kilogram of methamphetamine sent by an alleged dealer whose whereabouts were still being developed.

The South Sumatra BNN believes that the arrested suspect is part of a network with the arrest of three suspects with 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine on Saturday, January 29 on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Simpang Pematang.

"We are still investigating, it is strongly suspected that it is related to a case that was revealed some time ago. We will coordinate with other ranks to arrest the actual dealer", he said.

As a result of their actions, the two suspects were subject to Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law (UU) number 32 of 2009 concerning narcotics with a maximum threat of the death penalty.
