Only After Being Summoned By Jokowi, Minister Ida Fauziyah Revised The Rules For The 56 Year Old Age Guarantee

JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, has confirmed that he will immediately revise the rules for implementing the Old Age Security (JHT) program after being summoned by President Jokowi to the Palace.

Currently, the implementation of the JHT is regulated through the Regulation of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenaker) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits.

"In response to our report, the President gave directions so that the regulations related to JHT can be simplified," said the Minister of Manpower Ida in a press release from the Ministry of Manpower's Public Relations Bureau, Monday, February 21 yesterday.

After Permenaker No. 2 of 2022 is socialized, the government understands the objections that arise from the workers/laborers. Ida said, Jokowi gave directions and instructions so that this rule could be simpler.

So that the existence of JHT can be useful to help affected workers/laborers, especially those who have been laid off during this pandemic.

"Mr. President is very concerned about the fate of the workers/laborers, and asks all of us to mitigate and help fellow workers/laborers who are affected by this pandemic," he explained.

The Minister of Manpower, Ida, added that in his directive, President Jokowi also hoped that with a simpler procedure for claiming JHT, it could support the creation of a conducive employment climate.

"Mr. President also asked all of us, including the government, businessmen, and fellow workers/labourers, to jointly create a conducive employment climate, so as to encourage national competitiveness," he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo summoned Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah to the State Palace, Monday yesterday.

Jokowi summoned Airlangga and Ida because they knew there was a polemic regarding old age insurance (JHT) which was protested by labor groups. To his two ministers, Jokowi ordered that the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 2 of 2022 regarding the new JHT rules be revised. Jokowi asked for easier disbursement of JHT.

"Mr. President has ordered that the procedures and terms for payment of JHT be simplified, made easy, so that JHT funds can be taken by individual workers who are currently experiencing difficult times, especially those who are facing layoffs," said Minister of State Secretary Pratikno,

However, Pratikno has not explained in more detail the contents of the revised Permenaker No. 2 of 2022.

"How the arrangements will be later, will be further regulated in the revised regulation of the Minister of Manpower or other regulations," he said.
