Weather Forecast: Light And Heavy Rain In Several Regions In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts rain with light to heavy intensity to fall in several parts of Indonesia on Monday, February 21.

According to the weather forecast broadcast on the BMKG YouTube channel, light rain has the potential to fall in the cities of Serang, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya and moderate-intensity rain is likely to fall in the cities of Bandung and Semarang.

Denpasar City in Bali Province is facing the potential for light rain, while Mataram City in West Nusa Tenggara Province is forecasted to experience heavy rain.

On the island of Kalimantan, light rain is likely to occur in Palangka Raya City, moderate-intensity rain has the potential to fall in Banjarmasin City, and heavy rains are predicted to lash Samarinda City.

Light rain is also forecasted in Manado City in North Sulawesi Province and Kendari City in Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Palu City, the capital city of Central Sulawesi Province, is facing the potential for moderate-intensity rain, and Mamuju, the capital of West Sulawesi Province, is predicted to experience heavy rains.

Light-intensity rain is forecast in Ambon City in Maluku Province and Jayapura City in Papua Province, and moderate-intensity rain has the potential to fall in Ternate, North Maluku.

In addition, rain accompanied by lightning is forecasted in Manokwari (West Papua), Pekanbaru (Riau), Bandar Lampung (Lampung), Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara), and Makassar (South Sulawesi).

According to the BMKG information broadcast, the presence of cyclonic circulation areas and wind confluence areas increases the potential for rain cloud growth in parts of Indonesia.

The cyclonic circulation observed in the Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu, north of Kalimantan, and Halmahera forms a meeting area and slowing wind speed or convergence that extends from the waters of the Sangihe Talaud archipelago to North Sulawesi and from the waters of Southeast Sulawesi to the eastern Seram Sea.

The convergence area was also observed extending from Jambi to Bengkulu, the northern coast of Central Java to East Java, West Kalimantan to Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan waters, Central Sulawesi waters, Sumba Island waters to West Nusa Tenggara, and from Manokwari waters to Papua.
