Police In Padang Arrest 15 Teens Who Carry Sharp Weapons Ready For Brawl

JAKARTA - The Padang City Police, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), arrested 15 teenagers who were part of a gang of violent armed brawlers on Sunday (20/2) morning at around 03.00 WIB.

Officers secured the dozens of teenagers at a number of points such as Jalan Samudera in the Padang Beach area, Kalawi, Jalan Thamrin, and Simpang Six during the Condition Creation Operation which was held from Saturday (19/2) night to Sunday morning.

"These brawl gangs always go around on motorbikes, when they meet their direct opponents they attack," said the Padang Police's Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Rico Fernanda as Pamenwas Cipta Conditions, in Padang, Sunday, February 20.

According to him, the movement of the mob, which numbered tens of people, could be detected because there were people who reported it after passing by on Jalan Thamrin, Alang Laweh Village.

"We are following up on the report by deploying Padang Police and Sector Police personnel to the location," he said, quoted from Antara.

Knowing the arrival of officers, the group immediately fled the location. However, a number of the perpetrators and sharp weapons were arrested.

The police continued to pursue and combed a number of points to hunt down the gang who managed to escape because it was suspected that they would be fighting again.

From the hunt, 15 teenagers, ten motorbikes, and nine sharp weapons in the form of machetes and klewang were secured.

The perpetrators caught are known to be 17 years old on average, and one of them with the initials RS (17) is a recidivist.

He had been sentenced to three months for extortion and had just been released from the Child Special Penitentiary.

"The perpetrators were immediately taken to the Padang Police Office for guidance, while those proven to be carrying sharp weapons will be criminally processed," he said.

Rico emphasized that his party will not play with the brawlers who have made anxiety and disturbed the sense of security in the community.

One of the perpetrators caught, namely F (17), admitted that he, who was part of the gang, had intended to do a brawl.

According to the teenager who lives in Padang Besi, there were more than 20 motorbikes that came before being intercepted by the police, while he admitted that he only joined because a friend invited him.
