SIDOARJO - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights has budgeted Rp4.1 billion for legal aid programs for the poor in East Java with distribution through 65 verified legal aid providers (PBH).
Acting Head of the Regional Office of the East Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Wisnu Nugroho Dewanto, said he advised PBH to make good use of the budget.
"The Rp4.1 billion budget will be divided into two fields. Namely for litigation assistance of Rp3.4 billion and the rest for non-litigation assistance. There are 65 PBHs who are entitled to use the budget, the value depends on the accreditation of each PBH," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 19.
He said that of the 65 PBHs that received these rights, they were in a different category of accreditation.
There are 48 PBHs with C accreditation, 14 PBHs with B accreditation and three PBHs with A accreditation.
"We will evaluate every three months, if we do not meet the target, we will transfer the budget to PBH with better performance," said Wisnu.
Wisnu said the PBHs had signed a contract and performance agreement with the Regional Office of the Kemenkumham East Java.
This step was taken to further optimize the distribution of the legal aid budget for the poor.
So far, continued Wisnu, his party has implemented a reward and punishment system in managing the legal aid budget for the poor.
'Everything has been automated through the Legal Aid Database Information System Application (SIDBanKum). So data on budget absorption and PBH performance can be seen in real time," said Wisnu.
For this reason, Wisnu advised that after the signing of the agreement on the implementation of legal aid, the leaders or directors of PBH immediately carry out their activities, according to their rights and authorities in helping the poor who are in trouble with the law.
Because the provision of legal assistance to citizens, he said, is an effort to fulfill and at the same time implement a state of law that recognizes and protects its citizens.
"As well as guaranteeing the human rights of citizens to the need for access to justice and equality before the law," he said.
