JAKARTA - PT Pertamina denies accusations by netizens that the owner of the Twitter account @EtheimJ who insults Islam is an employee.
Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication Fajriyah Usman said that his party had conducted a search on the account owner and the company had also obtained the identity data of the account owner and his place of work.
"We emphasize that the (account owner) in question is not an employee of Pertamina," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 19.
Fajriyah appealed to the public not to be influenced by information spreading about the employment status of the @EtheimJ account owner associated with Pertamina.
He also encouraged law enforcement officers to resolve the case so that Pertamina would not be dragged into the problems related to religious insults.
"We support the efforts of the police to reveal this so that there is no confusion in the community," said Fajriyah.
Previously, the owner of the Twitter account @EtheimJ had written a tweet containing the sentence "Not halal city means that you don't want to follow the wishes of the imaginary trash worshipers whose teachings are pedophile Arab perverts.
The sentence was delivered in response to a banner that reads 'Malang Tolerant City Not Halal City' which was crowded on Twitter.
@EtheimJ's statement immediately received a response from netizens. The photo of the account owner wearing a helmet that reads Pertamina with two miniature ships was then linked by netizens as Pertamina employees.
The account owner had deleted the tweet, but now the account has disappeared from Twitter.
