Asita Bali: As Long As There Is Quarantine, The Island Of The Gods Will Be Difficult To Be Promoted

DENPASAR - Bali tourism players appreciate the government's decision to cut the quarantine period to three days for foreign tourists to Bali. However, tourism actors still hope that there will be no quarantine obligations for travelers or foreign tourists to the Island of the Gods.

The chairman of the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travels Agencies (Asita) for the Province of Bali, Putu Winastra, said that as long as there are quarantine rules for foreign tourists entering Bali, it is still difficult for business actors to attract tourists on vacation to the Island of the Gods.

"As long as there is quarantine, it will be difficult to sell the destination," said Winastra, Tuesday, February 15.

"We appreciate the government's efforts for that (cutting the quarantine period, ed). But instead, we hope that with the parameters that are applied, there will be no more quarantine, meaning zero quarantine. Why is that, because of the evaluation results or the response we got," he said.

According to Asita Bali, the market responded negatively to conditions in Indonesia because it compared it to a number of countries in Southeast Asia by eliminating quarantines for foreign tourists.

"Because, they are comparing with countries in Southeast Asia, which have started to open up with easier regulations. It is different, if Indonesia itself opens itself while no other country opens with strict rules, it might be taken into account," said Winastra.

"But when other countries have opened up, especially in Southeast Asia, which is our competitor, they provide very easy rules without quarantine. This becomes more attractive for potential tourists," he continued.
