JAKARTA - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Province, through immigration, has tightened the inflow of Foreign Citizens (WNA) to the local province.

This is an effort to prevent and anticipate the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

"In anticipation of the spread of Omicron, we have instructed the immigration function to tighten entry controls, in collaboration with relevant agencies," said Head of the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office R. Andika Dwi Prasetya in Padang, Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

This was said by Andika after opening the West Sumatra Province Foreigner Monitoring Team (PORA) meeting held by the Immigration Division of the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Padang today.

He said the tightening of supervision on foreigners was carried out by checking the Electronic-Health Alert Card (E-HAC) via the PeduliLindung application, checking health conditions and seeing administrative completeness.

"This is to ensure foreigners who enter West Sumatra are in good health, as well as efforts to maintain the health of our community," he said.

The main focus of the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights at this time, he continued, was the movement of domestic crossings, namely foreigners who were already in Indonesia and then traveled to West Sumatra.

"Currently the focus is on domestic crossings, considering that international entrances to West Sumatra are still closed," he explained.

He said the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic asked many parties to work extra extra, including the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office.

To maximize this task, the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights will cooperate with relevant agencies, such as the Port Health Office (KKP), he added.

Against the West Sumatra Pora Team, Andika requested that the team work optimally in supervising the movement of foreigners in West Sumatra.

"Don't let foreigners in West Sumatra commit violations or crimes that can harm the region. Therefore, their activities must be monitored properly," he said.

The Pora Team meeting was held to strengthen coordination, communication, and supervision strategies between agencies. The Pora team consists of various elements of the agency, ranging from immigration, provincial government, Polri, TNI, Attorney General's Office, Regional State Intelligence Agency (Binda) and Customs and Excise.
