SEMARANG – As many as four public roads in Semarang City, Central Java, an electronic parking system has been implemented. So far, the Semarang City Government (Pemkot) has started to test the system.

The Mayor of Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi, said that in the early stages, the implementation of electronic parking will be tested on four roads.

The four roads are MT Haryono Street, Agus Salim Street, Pekojan Street, and Wahid Hasyim Street.

He hopes that the electronic parking system will answer the community's problems regarding illegal parking.

In addition, he continued, parking management will be more orderly and transparent because there is certainty of regional cash receipts from this sector. Therefore, he expects public support in implementing this electronic parking system.

In accordance with the Regulation of the Mayor of Semarang Number 70 of 2021 regarding public roadside parking services, the parking fee for motorbikes is Rp. 2,000 and Rp. 3,000 for cars.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Semarang City Transportation Service, Danang Kurniawan, added that 34 parking attendants had attended counseling and training on electronic parking.

According to him, trials of the electronic parking system will be carried out over the next three months. As for parking attendants who do not want to implement electronic parking, he said, they will be replaced by new officers.

The electronic parking system itself, he continued, will use the QR Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) with various electronic wallet applications for payments.

"The parking attendant will immediately get a 4 percent share of each parking fee payment that comes in," he added.
