Members of the DPR PKS Faction Propose Hotels Isolation Program for Asymptomatic COVID-19 Patients

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission VI of the Indonesian Parliament, Nevi Zuairina, proposed an independent hotel isolation program for COVID-19 asymptomatic people (OTG). This program can be run at the same time to support the OTG policy, that the OTG patients shouldn't be isolated at home. On the other hand, hospitals are already overwhelmed by COVID-19 patients.

One of the things that urge the existence of an independent but not at home isolation program is the emergence of new clusters in neighborhood (RT) areas. It came from a COVID-19 asymptomatic family who was interacting in one area.

"I strongly support the government's policy to focus more on resolving COVID-19. We direct all state resources towards controlling this outbreak. However, to be in sync with the National Economic Recovery policy, there needs to be a selection of effective programs. Between health and the economic recovery program," Nevi explained as quoted from the DPR website, Wednesday, September 9.

One of them is to revive the hotel business, which is currently also in a very bad condition. The Self-Isolation Program in Hotels, in collaboration with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) with the Ministry of Health or the Local Health Office. It is one way that can be applied with various adjustments to get the necessary goals.

Community members who fall into the OTG criteria are facilitated by their quarantine comfortably. The house remains safe for the family, including residents. Besides, the government can also run according to the direction of the focus of health policy, and the economy of the people in the hotel business sector will be increasingly active.

"For the hotel program to open a 10-14 day self-isolation package at an attractive price. It could be a solution for asymptomatic patients. However, not all patients could pay hotel fees, even if the costs are small. So gaps like this need further thought, but I believe there must be a solution," he explained.

The legislator from West Sumatra II sees that the COVID-19 pandemic situation is not improving. The state budget is directed at large activities. He argues, the state budget channel can be synchronized with public financing with a focus on the health sector, where other supporting sectors are an alternative to solving the pandemic problem. The community and the government work together to have the same understanding. So, there will be discipline behavior to maintain health protocol during the pandemic. 

"Many program packages must be combed one by one on the focus of health, which simultaneously saves the economy into an integrated unit. Self-isolation in hotels is only one thing. The MSME empowerment program involved in controlling COVID-19 also still has a lot to do. "Hopefully, this COVID-19 will pass soon because the economic conditions of the people are getting more and more worrisome," concluded Nevi.
