The Joint Team In Solo Sprays Disinfectant Again Even Though WHO Has Said It's A Waste

JAKARTA - After the COVID-19 case went crazy again, several areas again sprayed disinfectant in a number of public spaces. An action that was once judged futile by the WHO.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that spraying disinfectants in public areas will not eliminate the coronavirus. What exists can even pose a health risk to the community.

This statement was issued by the WHO in a document published in May last year. They say, disinfectants don't work when dealing with dust and dirt in public areas.

However, the joint team in Solo this Friday carried out the simultaneous spraying of disinfectants in public spaces up to the RT and RW levels.

A joint team consisting of the Surakarta City Police, Brimob Detachment C Polda Central Java, Kodim 0735 Surakarta, Surakarta City Government which involved volunteers, and the community worked together to spray disinfectant in all public spaces from urban protocol roads to the smallest RT and RW levels.

According to the Head of the Surakarta City Police, Kombes Pol. Ade Safri Simanjuntak, the joint team that dispatched 775 personnel worked together to spray disinfectant targeting all protocol routes in the city of Surakarta.

This, said the Chief of Police, was also simultaneously carried out by the COVID-19 Task Force in each sub-district and up to the micro PPKM Task Force at the sub-district level in public spaces, both on protocol roads, public facilities, markets, children's play rooms, and other open places. .

"Spraying the disinfectant, with the aim of providing guarantees that our environment will remain comfortable, safe, clean and healthy in the midst of the current COVID-19 pandemic," said the Police Chief, quoted from Antara, Friday, February 11.

In addition, the joint team carried out woro-woro or socialization of health protocols (Prokes) by wearing masks, washing hands with methamphetamine, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and reducing mobility (5 M).

"Because, as stated by the President some time ago, the key to success in dealing with the new variant of Omicron lies in obedience and discipline to the applicable prokes," said the Chief of Police.

The joint team also distributed masks for free during the spraying of disinfectants and socialization of Prokes with the TNI, Surakarta City Government, volunteers and the community.

The joint team during the spraying activity also carried out humanistic enforcement of prokes discipline to raise up to the community that they were currently still in a pandemic period.
