Within A Day, Densus 88 Arrests 5 Terrorists Whose Roles Are Horrific

JAKARTA - Detachment 88 Anti-terror arrested five suspected theorists in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Bengkulu. From these arrests, the alleged terrorists are said to have played a fairly gruesome role.

Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, stated that in the DIY area, there were two suspected terrorists who were arrested. They have the initials RAU (31) and SU (51).

"The arrests of two suspects in the terrorism crime of the JAD group network in the DIY region," said Ramadhan, Thursday, February 10.

The RAU was arrested on Jalan Bener, Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta City. Meanwhile, SU was arrested on Jalan Nyai Cabe, Sewon, Garon, Bangunharjo, Sewon District, Bantul Regency.

Based on the results of the preliminary examination, they are said to have pledged allegiance to ISIS.

"RAU in 2014 pledged allegiance to the Amir of Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi and SU in 2016 pledged allegiance to ISIS," said Ramadhan.

In addition, the suspected SU terrorist also has a desire to carry out amaliyah or terror actions. Where, the suspected terrorist wanted to attack the police station.

"Suspected SU terrorists wanted to carry out an amaliyah action by attacking the police station," said Ramadhan.

In addition, SU is also said to have attended military training with the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) group. The training was routinely carried out for three years.

"SU routinely participates in IDAD military-style exercises with the JAD group in the DIY region for the period 2016 to 2019," he said.

Meanwhile, the suspected RAU terrorist was said to have participated in the bomb test process at Mount Sepuh, Bantul in 2018. Then, he also pledged allegiance to the leader of the terrorist group Abu Bakar Al Baghdadi.

"RAU in 2014 pledged allegiance to the Amir of Daulah Islamiyah Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi," said Ramadhan.

On the same day or February 9, Densus 88 Anti-terror also arrested three other suspected terrorists in the Bengkulu area. They have the initials CA, M, and R, who are members of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network.

"The three people are the Bengkulu JI network which is connected to JI Palembang, Riau and North Sumatra," said Ramadhan.

For the alleged terrorist CA, it is said that he has a big role in the JI network. Because he is the head of the JI Bengkulu Branch.

"CA is involved as the head of JI Bengkulu branch whose job is to recruit," said Ramadhan.

Later, from the results of the investigation, it was discovered that these three terrorists had pledged allegiance to JI since 1999. They were active in various fundraising activities to hide fugitives.

"They are active in recruitment, fundraising, and facilitating perpetrators or DPOs to hide or escape," said Ramadhan

Until now, Densus 88 Anti-terror continues to explore their statements. The goal is to find out other parties suspected of being involved in terrorist networks.
