To Prevent Dengue Fever, Madiun City Government Disburses IDR 9 Million In Each RW

MADIUN - The City Government of Madiun, East Java provided funds of Rp. 9 million for each community unit (RW) in the area to prevent the spread of dengue fever (DB), which tends to increase during the rainy season in early 2022.

Mayor of Madiun Maidi said the Rp9 million per RW was used for community service activities to clean the residents' environment and eradicate mosquito breeding grounds that spread dengue fever.

"We give a budget of Rp. 9 million per RW to clean up the environment. If it is multiplied by 267 RW in Madiun City, the total reaches Rp. 2.4 billion. Normalizing the environment is also part of creating a healthy environment," said Mayor Maidi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 5.

With this budget, his party asked every member of the community to work in community service. Start cleaning waterways, yards, and places that are mosquito habitats.

Maidi also ordered all village heads to monitor and take preventive measures and asked to pay attention to their residents who are being treated in hospital.

"The case of dengue fever is in which urban village, the lurah must know and participate in monitoring until the hospital," he said.

Maidi hopes that this movement can increase public awareness in maintaining a clean environment and preventing dangerous diseases, such as dengue fever. Moreover, during the rainy season, such as earlier this year, it is prone to puddles which are a place for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito to breed.

Based on the records of the Madiun City Hospital, throughout January 2022, it has treated 125 DB patients, all of whom are pediatric patients. Of that number, as many as 24 patients are residents of Madiun City, the rest are from Madiun Regency.

There is also an increasing trend starting three months ago since November 2021 as we enter the rainy season at the end of the year. It is estimated that the number of DB patients may still increase, therefore the community is asked to be diligent in eradicating mosquito nests (PSN) with 3M plus and implementing clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) every day.
