Ministry Of Home Affairs Encourages Early Anticipation Of Potential Conflicts In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) encourages early anticipatory steps towards potential conflicts ahead of the 2024 General Election (Election) and Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

Secretary of the Directorate General of Politics and General Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Imran, in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday, said that one of the steps was to involve the ranks of the National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol) at the provincial and district/city levels.

Imran said the Ministry of Home Affairs was pushing for stability measures to be carried out together with Kesbangpol ranks in the regions. It hopes that there will be anticipatory steps and mapping of potential conflicts.

"We should anticipate early detection and mapping of potential conflicts. Socio-political education is something that we must do to the community to prevent friction in every stage of the process of organizing the 2024 General Election and Pilkada," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 5.

Imran explained that the 2024 election stage will begin in June 2022, meaning that there are approximately 3 months left to prepare the things needed before the election stage begins.

Therefore, he continued, the government needs to be prepared, especially the Ministry of Home Affairs in dealing with the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Elections.

The Ministry of Home Affairs held an internal coordination meeting to prepare for the implementation and monitoring of the 2024 General Election and Pilkada.

"That this meeting is our first step to prepare for the election stage, which will discuss several local government issues and questions regarding the readiness to carry out the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Elections," said Imran.

The meeting discussed the implementation of monitoring, monitoring instruments, and local government grants in the implementation of the 2024 General Election/Pilkada.
