Unlike Trump, Joe Biden's Visit To Kenosha Was Well Received

JAKARTA - The visit of the candidate for President of the United States (US) Joe Biden to Kenosha, Wisconsin received a more warm welcome than President Donald Trump who visited earlier. During his visit, Biden had spoken with Jacob Blake, the black man who was shot in the back by police in Kenosha. Biden motivated himself who was lying in the hospital.

Launched the BBC, Friday 4 September, this visit is very important for Joe Biden. This is because some of the Black Lives Matter protesters in Kenosha were disappointed that a senior Democrat did not arrive early. Earlier on Wednesday, September 2, US President Donald Trump first visited Kenosha.

Local Democratic Party members are also frustrated that after the party's national convention in Wisconsin was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no event was planned to replace it. The backdrop is the tight margins with which Donald Trump won the state in 2016.

Biden's supporters come out in small groups to gather outside of events Joe Biden's Campaign Team holds at churches and schools. They shouted "Come on, Joe!" and "Get rid of Trump!"

The Blakes applaud Biden's sympathy as his campaign team hoped for. At one event the Biden community held a meeting with representatives of law enforcement agencies along with activists and business owners who fear looting and destruction. The program illustrates the message of unity and healing that Joe Biden is trying to convey.

Launching The New York Times, Biden opened a discussion session with activists, elected officials, religious leaders, business people and several law enforcement officials, aiming to appeal to a wider audience than Trump did during his visit. The former vice president stressed his commitment to correcting decades of systemic racism, as he acknowledged racial differences in the health care, education and criminal justice systems. He also said that it was finally at a point to tackle "original sin: slavery. And all that remains of it."

Two days ago Trump first visited Kenosha. During his visit, Trump did not speak or approach Jacob Blake. In addition, Trump also only discussed the Kenosha construction issue and promised to provide more federal spending to Wisconsin, the political battlefield that Trump won in 2016.

As well as securing votes, Trump appears to be working to open new ballot pockets in cities ruled by Democratic mayors. The reason is that he plans to send more federal officials to these cities even if local officials object.

Trump also made fun of Biden's visit to Kenosha. He praised himself for feeling successful in restoring order in Wisconsin. "Biden went there today," Trump told supporters at an evening rally in Latrobe.

"Nobody was there. He was a little late. I said, 'listen, we've ended the problem'"

In addition, Trump also made fun of Biden for wearing a mask. Trump quipped, saying that the people around Biden should feel safe.

"Have you ever seen a man who loves masks like him?" said Trump.
