Cooking Oil Warehouse In Ciracas Burns, Losses Reaches IDR 600 Million

JAKARTA - An uninhabited house that was used as a cooking oil warehouse in RW 02, Kelapa Dua Wetan Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta was engulfed in flames on Wednesday, February 2, early in the morning. The fire continues to burn bigger because the material at the location of the object is flammable.

"The house belongs to Solihin. It is suspected that the cause was an electric short circuit," said Head of East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Gatot Sulaeman when contacted by VOI, Wednesday, February 2.

Gatot said that his party received a fire report at 00:41 WIB. That night, a reporter from a resident came to the fire department to inform them that there was a fire at the contact point near the Amalia Mosque, RT 07/02, Kelapa Dua Wetan Village, Ciracas.

"Residents saw smoke and fire from inside the house on the 1st floor, then immediately reported it to the nearest fire station (pusdiklat post)," he said.

Gatot also deployed 19 units of fire engines with 95 officers to the location of the fire. Officers arrived at the location at around 00:45 WIB and immediately carried out efforts to extinguish the fire.

From the results of pouring water for several hours, the fire was successfully tamed by the officers. Officers carried out the process of cooling the fire at around 02.26 WIB.

"The object that caught fire was an uninhabited house that was used as a storehouse for cooking oil," said Gatot.

Although the fire was extinguished, the charred object covered an area of 150 square meters.

"The loss is estimated at Rp 600 million rupiah," he said.
