Three Journalists Echo The 2022 HPN From The Summit Of Mount Latimojong, Sulawesi

KENDARI - Soon press personnel throughout Indonesia will commemorate National Press Day (HPN) 2022. Many agenda items are prepared to welcome the peak of the 2022 HPN event which will be held in Kendar, Southeast Sulawesi. Welcoming this annual event, three journalists hiked on Mount Latimojong, Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi.

Which climbers do not know Mount Latimojong which presents a challenging climb. But behind it, tucked away a very beautiful scenery will make anyone very fascinated.

Mount Latimojong is one of the highest mountains in Indonesia which is included in the category of the seven highest mountains (Seven Summits of Indonesia). This mountain has many peaks, namely, Sikolong Peak, Buntu Sinaji, Bajaja, Nenemori, Latimojong, and Rante Kambola. However, there is the highest peak at 3,478 meters above sea level known as Rante Mario.

To this mountain, climbers can start the path from Karangan Hamlet, Enrekang. However, to get to the village, you must first pass a fairly challenging climbing route, which takes about 2-4 hours depending on the weather with a distance of about 27 kilometers.

It is recommended, if you want to go to Mount Latimojong, you should come during the dry season. The same thing was expressed by the Deputy General Treasurer of the Central PWI, Dar Edy Yoga who had the opportunity to climb Mount Latimojong, on Thursday, January 27. "Mount Latimojong is one of the most difficult mountains to climb. It takes physically and mentally strong to reach its peak," said Dar Edi Yoga, Saturday, January 29.

Yoga said the hiking trail is very extreme requires skills for rock climbing and repling. "Vertical cliffs have to be traversed especially with deep ravines on the sides. It takes 3 days and 2 nights to climb this mountain," he said.

Together with two other journalists, Onaria Fransisca and Wariani Krishnayanni, it took a total of 17 hours to reach the top. "When we tried to climb to the top it took a total of 17 hours outside of rest (overnight). And to descend it took 16 hours," said Onaria.

This mountain is never deserted from climbing activities. Along the way, many passed by other climbers from various communities throughout Indonesia.
